The CrossBay Ferry Returns to Tampa!
TAMPA – The CrossBay Ferry linking downtown St. Petersburg and our own downtown Tampa will be returning in November. A positive vote from Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties along with Tampa and St Petersburg City Councils, approve subsidy funding of $150,000 from each to ensure another year of the CrossBay Ferry service.
The Pier District is under reconstruction so this year the ferry will dock at the Vinoy Marina. Parking at the Sundial Garage is only about 1,000 yards away plus there are metered parking spaces available near the marina. Parking and shuttle bus service is currently being evaluated by St Petersburg City Council should additional parking become necessary.
With Tampa’s Convention Center and Amalie Arena in close proximity to the ferry dock, parking in Tampa should pose no problem for passengers. The TECO Streetcar Line is ramping up to offer free usage plus the River Walk connects passengers to a variety of venues along Tampa’s Hillsborough River.
The CrossBay Ferry is projected to make over 32 one-way trips per week, operating all seven days. The relaxing, 50 minute ride across the Bay will have adult tickets priced at just $8, with discounts available for seniors, students, and military personnel. Children 4 and under will travel free.
